Chess, who co-founded the label with his brother Phil, was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Darnell Martin also scripted the film, based on an original idea. Vincent D'Onofrio has a small, uncredited part in Cadillac Records as a Mississippi DJ paid off by record producer Leonard Chess [Adrien Brody] to give airplay to Muddy Waters' 45 single record.  He appears in one scene with a few lines, and one closeup with two lines.  Actor Isaih Whitlock, Jr is credited as the Mississippi DJ - he has a scene later with Muddy Waters [Jeffrey Wright].
